Where is R513A used?
- Screw and centrifugal chillers
- Medium-temperature commercial refrigeration
- R134a retrofits
Service and safety notes
- Azeotropic blend: negligible glide, but blends are still charged in liquid phase.
- Non-flammable and low toxicity (A1). A large leak in a closed room can still displace oxygen, so gas detection is recommended in small plant rooms.
- Never charge a system with a refrigerant other than the one on its nameplate; retrofits need manufacturer approval and oil and component checks.
- Charging, recovery and leak checks must be done and recorded by F-gas certified technicians.
R513A and regulations
Covered by Türkiye's Regulation on Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases (Official Gazette, 15 October 2024). HFC supply is being phased down with quotas, high-GWP gases are restricted earlier, leak-check intervals depend on the CO₂-equivalent charge, and handling requires certified technicians. With a GWP below 750 it is among the preferred next-generation options. Always check the current legal text for exact dates and scope.
