About equipment relocation
When moving home or office, the air conditioner is often the last thing considered; yet if an AC is removed incorrectly, its refrigerant escapes, and if the pipe ends are left open, moisture and dirt get into the system. When the pipe length changes at the new location, the additional refrigerant charge must be calculated, the connections pressure-tested with nitrogen and the system evacuated.
Scope of service
- Pumping the refrigerant down into the outdoor unit (pump down)
- Removal of indoor and outdoor units, capping of pipe ends
- Positioning and drainage planning at the new location
- Copper piping, insulation and cable replacement
- Wall drilling, bracket and hanger installation
- Nitrogen pressure test and vacuum
- Additional refrigerant charge based on pipe length
- Commissioning and measurement report

- Refrigerant recovery and safe removal of the unit

Frequently asked questions
Can I remove and move the AC myself?
Not recommended. If an AC is removed without pumping down the refrigerant, the refrigerant escapes, moisture enters the open pipe ends and the risk of compressor failure at the new location increases.
Is refrigerant needed when relocating?
If the refrigerant was recovered properly and the pipe length did not change, it is usually not needed. If the piping was extended, an additional charge is added according to the manufacturer's values.
Can the existing copper pipes be reused?
Pipes can be reused if they are sound and the right length; crushed, short or contaminated pipes are replaced. This is decided on site during the site survey.
How long does relocation take?
Removing a single split air conditioner and installing it in a new location is usually completed the same day; for multiple units, the timeline is planned during the site survey.
