Where is R454C used?
- Commercial refrigeration and condensing units
- Heat pumps
- Cold rooms
Service and safety notes
- Zeotropic blend, glide about 7.8 K: always charge in liquid phase; after a large leak, recover and recharge the full system. Use dew point for superheat and bubble point for subcooling.
- Mildly flammable (A2L). Work away from ignition sources, use A2L-rated vacuum pumps, recovery units and leak detectors, and respect charge limits for the room size (EN 378).
- Never charge a system with a refrigerant other than the one on its nameplate; retrofits need manufacturer approval and oil and component checks.
- Charging, recovery and leak checks must be done and recorded by F-gas certified technicians.
R454C and regulations
Covered by Türkiye's Regulation on Fluorinated Greenhouse Gases (Official Gazette, 15 October 2024). HFC supply is being phased down with quotas, high-GWP gases are restricted earlier, leak-check intervals depend on the CO₂-equivalent charge, and handling requires certified technicians. With a GWP below 750 it is among the preferred next-generation options. Always check the current legal text for exact dates and scope.
