Are a chiller (soğutma grubu) and a chiller the same thing?
Yes. In technical documents it is called chiller, while in Turkish specifications and in the field it is mostly called soğutma grubu or or water soğutma grubu . The unit cools water (or glycol water) through the refrigeration cycle, and this water is sent by pumps to fan coils, air handling units or process equipment. What we check during chiller maintenance
- Reading the alarm history, operating hours and compressor start counts from the control panel
- Suction and discharge pressures, superheat and subcooling measurements
- Compressor currents, phase balance and insulation resistance
- Oil level and oil pressure in screw compressors, and oil analysis when needed
- Evaporator inlet-outlet water temperature difference and water flow (including flow switch test)
- Condenser coil cleaning and fan check on air-cooled units
- Condenser approach temperature and tube cleaning needs on water-cooled units
- Refrigerant leak check, filter-drier and sight glass condition
- Safety devices: high/low pressure switches, freeze protection
- Pre-winter glycol concentration or drain plan

Common soğutma grubu faults
- High pressure alarm: dirty condenser, fan failure, excess refrigerant (details: high pressure alarm)
- Low pressure and freeze alarm: low water flow, low refrigerant, expansion valve problem
- Flow switch alarm: pump failure, clogged strainer, air in the piping
- Compressor overcurrent or thermal trip: mechanical wear, phase problem, lack of oil (see compressor failure symptoms)
- Frequent cycling: low system water volume, incorrect set values (see buffer tank calculation)

Is there a difference between a chiller (soğutma grubu) and a chiller?
No, they refer to the same equipment. Chiller is a term of English origin; in Turkish specifications it is called soğutma grubu or water soğutma grubu.
How often should chiller maintenance be done?
In comfort applications, a comprehensive service at the start of the season and periodic checks during the season are usually done. In process cooling that runs all year, the interval is shorter; we determine it together based on operating hours.
Which brands do you service?
We provide maintenance and repair for chillers of Rhoss, Carrier, Daikin, McQuay, Trane, York, CIAT, Climaveneta, Aermec, Üntes, Aldağ and many other brands. We are an authorized service for LG; for other brands we are an independent technical service.
How should a chiller be protected in winter?
For outdoor units, either the right glycol concentration is used or the piping and heat exchanger are drained completely. We explain the details in our winter preparation article.
Can you come the same day for a fault?
In Ankara we respond to fault calls on the same day. In other provinces we work with a planned team or under a maintenance contract.
