In shortA dry cooler is a closed-circuit heat exchanger that cools water or glycol with air blown by fans. Unlike a cooling tower no water evaporates, so there is no water consumption, water treatment or legionella risk, but water can only be cooled to a few degrees above the outdoor dry-bulb temperature. Adiabatic pre-cooling helps on hot days.
