How is air conditioner installation done?
- Site survey and capacity check: Is the room size and sun exposure suitable for the air conditioner's BTU rating? For a preliminary calculation, you can use our air conditioner BTU calculator.
- Indoor unit location: a wall is chosen that distributes air evenly through the room, does not blow directly onto the bed or desk, and lets the drain flow by gravity.
- Outdoor unit location: it is installed on a sturdy bracket or on the ground, where it can draw in air and be reached for maintenance, in compliance with neighbor and building management rules.
- Copper pipe and insulation: pipes are run in the diameters the unit requires, flare fittings are tightened to the correct torque, and the pipes are insulated.
- Drainage: a continuously sloped line is used for condensate water, or a drain pump if needed.
- Electrical: a fused line of suitable cross-section is run for the air conditioner.
- Vacuum: air and moisture in the pipes are removed with a vacuum pump. Installing without a vacuum shortens compressor life.
- Commissioning: gas pressures, supply air temperature and drainage are tested, and operation is explained.
