Result
Preliminary calculation: This tool is for quick sizing and information. In real projects, load calculation, selection and commissioning require engineering calculations and a site survey. Results are approximate values.
Formula
Q_latent = Q_total × (1 − SHR)ṁ_condensate [kg/h] ≈ Q_latent [kW] × 3600 / 2450The latent heat of vaporization is taken as about 2450 kJ/kg. In humid environments, latent load and condensate are higher. The drain line should be designed with sufficient slope (commonly about 1% and above), taking into account the combined flow collected on a shared line.
Causes of water dripping
- Clogged or unsloped drain line
- Sludge, algae and dirt buildup in the pan
- Insufficient insulation and cold bridges
- Incorrect installation slope
Frequently asked questions
Why does a fan coil drip water?
Mostly because of a clogged condensate drain, installation without slope or lack of insulation. It is prevented by regular maintenance.
Where do I find the SHR?
From the unit catalog or selection software. If unknown, a range of about 0.7–0.8 can be used for comfort applications.
Is condensate water drinkable?
No. Condensate water is not hygienic; it must be discharged to a drain.
