Factors that determine the fan coil price
- Type: wall and floor type units are generally simpler; cassette and concealed ceiling ducted units require grilles, vents and ductwork.
- Capacity: as the room's heat load grows, larger or more units are needed. For a preliminary calculation, you can use the fan coil quantity calculator.
- 2-pipe or 4-pipe coil: a 4-pipe unit has a separate heating coil and a second valve.
- Motor: The initial cost of EC motor units is generally higher, but they use less electricity in operation.
- Thermostat and control: the choice of mechanical, digital or BMS-connected thermostat affects the price.
- Valve set: on/off or proportional valve, balancing valve and actuator.
- Drain pump: needed where drainage cannot be provided by gravity slope.
- Brand and origin.
We deliberately do not give figures in this article: prices vary greatly with the number and type of units, access and city, and written figures quickly go out of date. If you send us your list of units, we prepare a written, itemized quote.
Fan coil sales and installation quote
Send us the room list or the project; we will prepare a written quote including unit selection and installation.
What goes into the installation cost?
- Cold/hot water pipe connections and insulation
- Drain line and, if needed, a pump
- Electrical and thermostat wiring
- Suspended ceiling, vent and ductwork (for concealed ceiling units)
- Line cleaning, air bleeding, balancing and commissioning
Whether the existing building's chiller and installation are sufficient, or a new chiller is needed, also determines the total budget. For choosing a system, see our article VRF or chiller.
What information is needed for an accurate quote?
- The room list and areas (or the project)
- Preferred fan coil type and ceiling condition
- 2-pipe or 4-pipe system
- Existing chiller and boiler information
- Thermostat and central control expectations
With this information, our sales and installation team prepares a written quote.
Frequently asked questions
Why do fan coil prices vary so much?
Type, capacity, coil, motor, thermostat, brand and installation scope determine the price. Even at the same capacity, the total cost of a concealed ceiling unit and a wall type unit is different.
Can a fan coil be used at home?
In homes with a central heating-cooling installation or a heat pump, wall or floor type fan coils can be used.
Is a fan coil or a split air conditioner more economical?
In small buildings, a split or multi air conditioner usually requires a lower initial investment. In large buildings, a central chiller and fan coil system can offer advantages in operation and maintenance.
Do you do the fan coil installation yourselves?
Yes. We provide unit selection, installation, piping connection and commissioning services.
